Lossiemouth Men’s Shed

Our community consultations indicated that there was a lot of interest in the establishment of a Men’s Shed in Lossiemouth.

Men’s Sheds are similar to garden sheds – a place to pursue practical interests at leisure, to practice skills and enjoy making and mending. The difference is that garden sheds and their activities are often solitary in nature while Men’s Sheds are the opposite. They’re about social connections and friendship building, sharing skills and knowledge, and of course a lot of laughter.

From an inaugural meeting in January 2023, the Lossiemouth Men’s Shed was formed and quickly developed into a cohesive group of ‘shedders’.

The community rallied around in support. Lossiemouth FC donated the use of an old shed at their home ground, Grant Park, as well as access to the pie shop for refreshments. Many local businesses and individuals donated time, services and goods to help set up the shed.

In  April, the Lossiemouth Men’s Shed gained charitable status, a fantastic achievement!

The group meets at least three times a week and is open to all men in the Lossiemouth area to go down and see them. There’s no obligation to work just a place to have a cup of tea and see a friendly face.

You can find out more about the Lossiemouth Men’s Shed by following them on Facebook or by emailing the secretary – Secretary@lmshed.org
