We are very excited to tell you about our latest project in collaboration with Lossie High and Mikeysline.
The mural on the esplanade, we are sure you will agree, is in dire need of an upgrade. We have been working on finding funding, an artist and a design to brighten it up for some years now, and finally it is all coming together!
In our search for an artist, we saw some of the work which Marc from Freshpaint has done for Mikeysline in the Highlands, and contacted them and him, and they were both keen to get involved.
The next challenge was how to choose a design..a difficult one as everyone has different tastes and ideas about what is art. We wanted something which reflected our fishing heritage but that did not detract from the beauty of the scenery. Not an easy task.
As this year also marks 150 years of Lossie High School, when the school got in touch to ask if they could get involved in our project to brighten up the wall, we were only too delighted to accept their enthusiastic offer.
Today, we met with first year pupils and several members of staff from the school and the challenge was set to design a mural for our wall. The pupils are working in groups on themes which largely focuses on our fishing heritage.
When the young people's art work has been submitted, we will be holding a display and a cup of tea at the The Lossie Community Hub on Saturday 29 March from 10 to 3pm and you are all invited to come in and vote for your favourite design.
We still have to clean and prepare the wall, and are looking for offers of help to assist us in removing the lichen and get a base coat on it in early April. We will keep you posted.
Marc is coming to Lossie to paint the mural on 21 April..and if any accomodation providers could offer him accomodation for 3 or 4 nights when he is here that would be very much appreciated.
We will keep you up to date on what is happening and look forward to seeing if we have any budding Banksy's in the first year at Lossie High. 🙂

Slow living things to do in Moray this year include visiting the beautiful Culbin Forest and the incredible Hill 99 view point🌲🥰
This is a remarkable spot on the Moray coast🥰. The wee ponds in the forest attract dragonflies and serve as a water tap for otters🦦. Much of the shoreline from the trees to the low tide mark is an RSPB reserve🐦. The mix of salt marsh, mudflats, shingle and sand is a vital feeding ground for wading birds, you can sometimes spot Ospreys🦅 fishing here too😎. Bring your cozzie for a dip in the sea with a beaut view🥰🌊.

We had brunch out, played in the park (I was treated to Taylor Swift in concert at one point) a walk round Lossie, our nails done (the automatic massage chair I sat in was worth the money alone) a trip to Boots, Claire’s Accessories, Starbucks (had to pay £3.20 for the SMALLEST EVERRRRRR hot chocolate) then a food shop in Asda for our tea all together when we got home.
What a day!
